Welcome to the madhouse :D - don't forget to put your location in your profile, cos' it helps us to help you (local help).
Are you sure you're not just catching the "Hold" button on the gear lever - very common amongst new users

I agree, make sure you haven't knocked the hold button, enjoy your Bongo

Its only a problem if the Hold Light flashes.

Assuming its not, all is well.

Warm welcome.

I was always knocking it on in the early days. Usuall by pressing my arm accidentally against it while reaching past the gear lever into the centre cubby

Welcome aboard Carr, agree with Mr M, if it flashes is is a diagnostic code, if not probalby doing what we all did. :D

Leeange,
You may still have a fault code stored in the computer even though the hold light has stopped flashing. I would recommend following the fault code fact sheet directions in the members area to see if you get a fault code. If so, you should be able to get it taken care of under warranty. Flashing holds are often caused by sticking solenoids in the trans. Best to try to get the code as soon as possible,

Now I'm worried!

I had a stuck HOLD the other day. I'm pretty sure I hadn't hit the button, and hitting the button didn't clear it. It stayed on for about 10 minutes, then went off. A little later it flashed and the rev counter kept cutting in and out for a few minutes. The engine was running normally and there was no apparent loss of power or anything else to indicate a serious problem. The rest of the way home (another 40 miles or so) she ran perfectly. As she did the next day.

Given that she's well out of warranty, what sort of things COULD it have been? [-o<
