Plastex

I could not find a reference to this wonderful stuff called Plastex when I just did a search on this forum.
Apologies if it has been mentioned before but I have used this stuff to fix motorcycle fairings and other broken plastics and thought I would pass it on.

My driver's side window switch has the front lug broken and I am currently rebuilding the lug using Plastex (I will post a picture when it is finished).

For those that do not know, it comes in a powder form and is set by adding a liquid. Once set it can be drilled, filed and threaded and it has saved me a fortune by fixing bike bits and other stuff.
Just use it in a well ventilated room

Sounds like good stuff tony, i'll be sure to look it up for the next time i stuff my rear bumper into a stump! Question is.... Can it be used to make a protective guard to keep the evil monkey in your closet?

It looks awfully like what we call in the dental laboratory trade "cold cure" (self curing acrylic resin)...if thats what it is, I could sell you a bucketful for that price (slight exaggeration). If it isn't the same then cold cure would do the same job...It's what we use to repair fractured dentures. However it would be pink or ivory in colour unless you dyed it.

We use a product called "quicksteel" and it's the dog's nut's for all kind of repairs.

Also sets rock hard and can be drilled,tapped,seals exhausts,leaky rads,leaky sumps.

the list is endless, car or home

cost about a fiver a tube but worth keeping in the glove box...........

And fits perfect in the road flare compartment

It is the same stuff.
I recognised the smell as soon as I opened my first batch, my dad was a dentist and my brother and I used to "liberate" it to make things with. Which was fine as long as you needed denture plate pink.
It is available in many colours and the black has carbon in it to increase strength (apparently) and allow for flex.

If you are in the market to sell me some then just let me know. A bucketful may be a bit much though

TonyBee....pm me your address and I'll send you some to playwith.....I also have some silicone putty you can use for making moulds....then pour in the acrylic to reproduce whatever....You can buy hobby kits that do this... the clear stuff you can embed insects in etc is very good

Can you still get this stuff? I used to have it as a kid (I think there were two brands, Isopon and Plastikraft). I've been on the look out for my kids, but haven't been able to find it. Thought maybe the health and safety brigrade decided it was too much fun for kids and so banned it.
