window switch fix

Post by meek.tv » Fri Sep 12, 2008 9:55 am

after the last fix i did on the window switch its started playing up again, which coincided with me leaving the window open in the rain. up untill that point it was working fine
i opened it up and these two contacts were pretty badly corroded
Image
i only though of taking a pic after id cleaned them up but it seems to have done the job.
might be worth a lookie if your switch is behaving badly

note to self: dont leave window open in the rain

That looks like the bit that isolates the passenger side? I had exactly the same problem, with the same cure, well done for putting the photo up, I didn't think at the time #-o
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

I used a rolled up bit of fine wet & dry, when i was trying to repair my original switch.
I've fitted a unit that closes the windows on locking.

Cool. Cheers chaps. Jaylee? When you say fitted a unit that closes the windows on locking, do you mean a stand alone type system that extends the standard central locking,or an add on system to an aftermarket remote central locking kit?

It was a stand alone universal system that ties in with the remote alarm central locking Mr Cain.
You can get it as either four or two window system from Falcon..
Though i wish i got the four window closer.. I could have used the spare to either shut the mirrors or if the blinds are down (fer instance in dodgy areas) open them again on entry!!
It just takes a pulse from the door lock wire...
Cost me about £15, not much more for the 4 window version..?

Correction; 16 quid.. http://www.google.co.uk/products?hl=en& ... 1&ct=title
Tucked it away nicely in the drivers foot well along with the beep stuff!! :P

From Website description...

Please note this unit will not work on Toyota Hiace, Mazda Bongo or derivatives of these vehicles.

Did you notice or know that it was going to work?

It's been on my wagon fer 6 months or so & works fine., i got mine off eBay ( no mention of incompatibility with the Bongo at the time! )
Initially it was a pig to get working.. By the instructions the white & red wire should have triggered it..?
However, if you use the white wire with the black stripe to trigger the unit... :P
But cheers fer pointing that out Mr Tastic...! :D

Could be a possibility others had fitting problems & returned the unit to Falcon, saying it wasn't compatible with the Yota or Mazzy & they since amended the product description.? :?

... Or maybe i shoulda gone to Specsavers!!! #-o
But it works fer me. 8)

Small tip here.
No thats not my nickname!
Generous coating of silicone grease before connecting any connectors will prevent corrosion damage.
