I've got the same issue with my rear number plate light. I think on import it had an old number plate surround type thing on it, which was wired into the van and therefore lit the plate up...but the dealer removed this and added my new numberplate as normal.
When I took the bulb coverings out, there's only wires and no actual bulb holders. I've asked my dealer to send me some to put in!
not got em yet, but assume this is all that's needed. There'll be plenty more opinion coming this way soon...

Re: number plate lights
had a look at the rear and i have 2 bulbs either side of the number plate . both bulbs are in. took off the back door cover and the wires exite the boot on the drivers side. i am guessing that they must wire into the lights at some point so would welcome someones knowledge of where they break in or how they do it.
if not i may enter the rear light cluster and join into the rear lights.
