cold start prob

hello everybod,hoping for some advice on a starting prob.If just left overnight it starts fine,however if left for a couple of days it struggles to start.I have the twin crank battery bongo & was wondering if theres any other gizmo stuck on it thats not needed in this warm clime which might be the culprit.I let the glow plug light go out before cranking but then whilst cranking it comes on again?

If it runs OK when started, it's probably just the glowplugs. You'll notice it more as the weather gets cooler.

If it is your glowplugs on the way out the easy way to test them is to let the glowplugs heat up a couple of times and if it fires up straight away then they are due for replacement. Hope this helps.

I once left the roof night light in the AFT on for a fortnight.

Worth a look if you've not been up there for a while.

There is no reason why the "glow plug" light comes on again whilst cranking...It is not even in any circuit involved with the plugs...It may be giving you a message or perhaps your batteries are coming to the end of their lives. If you count to five after the glow light goes out your plugs will have been lit up a extra 5 secs. If it still won't start suspect the plugs. Plugs burn out extra quick on a Bongo co's of all this .. They often are still operating on/off/on/off for quite a while after starting. There is a fact sheet on bypassing this with a manual switch...I have done this simple mod and it works and gives the plugs a longer life.

The light in my AFT switches off automatically when the roof is lowered - don't they all do this?

Reference the glowplug light coming back on. I & a few others have had this warning light come on briefly immediately after the engine starts. A new battery seems to cure it, so it seems it may indicate a dying battery.
