Easy things first, like the fuse, then relay ( is it clicking ), then the horn itself, by first checking if you are getting 12V at the connections.

I have read on here about others who had the same problem, so fingers crossed they read this and give you a few pointers.

All the best.

The horn is behind the driver side headlight if you need to get to it, but as Brora says, check the obvious first.

Guess they're not all the same then, different years maybe? unless yours are replacements? I had to take the headlight out to replace mine.

Hi Kirsty, I will post some photos when I know how!! I own a green/silver 1995 bongo with full bodykit and full conversion. When I bought it,it was 3 inch lower but I had the proper suspension put on when it was converted to a full camper. It has a larger diesel pump fitted to make it faster!! (done in Japan!)so does about 19 to the gallon :!: The best bit though, the registration plate I bought is:- M 80NGD,so when doctored is:-M 80NGO,cheers,Lee.

Hi BBBBB

I had the same problem. There is a cassette in the boss of the steering column. It is a ribbon cable which is wound so that when the steering wheel is turned, the ribbon unfurls. It also carries the signal for the airbag (if fitted).

Its worth checking continuity of the ribbon cable. I had to replace mine.

I thought most bongos have two horns? (Different tones)

Mine are quite loud, and are originals (I think), yet I hear folk moaning about how rubbish their horns are. :?

Hi,the bongo is normally fitted with two horns (hi-tone and low_tone)
Someone a wee while back had a horn problem, turned out to be no horns, just the wire.

I don't believe that is the case. Certainly mine & the others I have seen only have one rather weedy unit fitted behind the headlamp. I've now fitted a pair of Fiamm horns from a Saab.

Mine only had a single "Meep" Meep" one as well - looks like some Japanese owners got fed up and went the aftermarket fitment route as well.
