Would someone be kind enough to explain how these work?

i havnt got one myself yet but as far as i am aware you can set where the temp gauge sits and if it goes past it it will go off ??

Hi Lloydy

I have a mson alarm works a treat

If you notice your temp will or should read about 11 clock and barely move .
The mason alarm gives a better reading ( good true temp reading ) and will let you now in good time if the Bongo is over heating.
You can set the alarm to your bongos requirments.
The best way to do it is set the Mason to 0 then drive the bongo to running temp by this time the alarm will be sounding..
set the alrm by turning the dial till the alrm just stops,
Then find the bigest hill to drive up to put the engine under strain( not to much ) the alarm should start to go off again as the temp will rise .
now increas the alarm again till it stops.
Mine runs on NO 4..
all done

mine works great on both vehicles,i woudn't be without one.

Yes they work a treat, the gauge is more sesitive, shows a better reading than just sitting at 11.00 doing nothing

just get ready for brown pants moment the first time you see your temp needle go up to the 1oclock position :S

Fitted mine this afternoon..
I followed cabte's advice after fitting (it came set to four) Let the Bongo idle fer a while the needle came up to 12, took the Bongo for a run up the A46 to the Cold Ashdon roundabout then off towards Warmley down Tog hill & back.

Crikey, it's like a truth serum for the temp gauge!
The alarm started making a noise on the dual carriageway before the road started to incline, i stopped & set to just above 4. (by this time the needle was @ 1.)
On the way back up Tog Hill it was chirping slightly again, I stopped & settled it on 4.5..

My Coolant levels fine & the fans cut in, i found the needle moved back down to one when cruising, it didn't go red it stayed about 6mm of the blue end line? (white dials fitted.)
I also drilled a little hole in the back of the alarm casing, i thought the tone a little muffled.
But then i do like my music loud!!

Does that sound about right...?

sounds good to me.. mine does the same runs between 12 and 1
