Home at last
Our bongo finally home, gearbox all refurbished with a 12 month warranty. Our thanks and recommendation go to Chris Carver at Carver Transmissions, Denton, Manchester for taking on this project and completing in very quick time. Thanks to wheelquick for looking after her, not even one oily fingerprint. Thanks to young Mike for staying late tonight waiting for us to pick her up. Many thanks for pms of sympathy and support especially Muz, who gave us calm advice and helped us see light at the end of the tunnel. Blobber we have made a bit of room for you now, good luck. Its good to have her back. Going Derbyshire this very weekend. hatris

Really pleased for you Hatris and well done for keeping the faith. Look at it this way. Not going to the Bash offset the cost of repair by the saving in fuel. Well ya gotta think positive

Re: Home at last
Thanks everyone. Good to be back in the fold. Pockets seriously emptied. We have come to realise though, that we would be lost now without her, so busy making plans to make her engine safer. Asked Rooster, who has kindly agreed to fit the alarms for the temperature and coolant and wheelquick will be fitting hoses. We were planning some more blinging this year, but peace of mind comes first. We enjoyed the photos and read all the posts of the bash and the York meet, very jealous but enjoyed seeing you all. Hope we meet again soon, I'll bring something nice. hatris

Quite right hatris. Blinging comes a poor second to the peace of mind and satisfaction of having a healthy workhorse.
Re: Home at last
Having just been there with a scare for a cooked head,I`ll second, third and fourth what Mike`s said, sod the bling,it may look nice but its no use having a chrome everything on a Bongo thats sat on your drive for a month or more, cos you cant drive it.mikeonb4c wrote:Quite right hatris. Priorities first...for peace of mind get the Bongo fully roadworthy,THEN think about the fancy looking side.
Glad your sorted Hatris, see you at the next Meet.

Re: Home at last
i know my bongo has a bit of bling on it
but if you have taken notice its only after i have done a lot of preventative work , like the hoses, coolant alarm, mason alarm, regular servicing ,oil changes ,etc, etc
i have had the bongo for nearly 18 months ,and if you check, its only in the last 6 months that i have started to put the shiny bits on, knowing i have the peace of mind mechanically.

Gosh I am ashamed to say I missed the postings saying your bongo was poorly but I am glad it is now fixed. We did miss you at the bash. I only had rooster and DBO to tell me off about things and it isn't the same without a woman to do it too.

Re: Home at last
You must have had a big smile driving back last night. All you need now is an excuse to get to Harry's bash next weekend
If you want to break your journey from Derbyshire for a brew, (hardly the end of the world, I know) we're only a mile or so from J23 of the M60.
Amazingly, we're having a rest this weekend. Well, oil & filter change, da-di-da.....

Spot on Dave. All the serious blingers have started by getting the foundation solid before they built the house. And it shows in the quality of the workdaveblueozzie wrote:i know my bongo has a bit of bling on it![]()

Hi mobilecat you know you can always rely on me for this. Did I notice some new blinds in the rear of your bongo? You haven't been sewing have you?mobilecat wrote:Gosh I am ashamed to say I missed the postings saying your bongo was poorly but I am glad it is now fixed. We did miss you at the bash. Muz that is truly a lovely offer but we will be listening to a concert till late sunday and then might need to be introduced to the officers in charge of my daughter. Don't know what time we would be coming home but maybe quite late. Thanks a million.

I think what you may have seen is my £1 silver screen which does nicely in the back window when too tired to deal with my curtains.
