For the second time we smelt plastic burning, stopped and checked under the bonnet. The 30 amp fude had blown. I had the aircon on and afterwards switched it off and am hesitant about replacing the fuse as I think, remembering other posts, that the heater fan motor had seized again.
We think this happened after driving rain in Newbiggin by Sea. Previously it was after driving rain in Leiceston but both times the problem didn't show immediately.
We had the fan motor freed before, not cheap, and are thinking of doing so again.
Is this sensible?
Should we replace the motor?
Is there any way to protect from the overflow of the chanel under the windscreen -drain hole was clear but possible too small?

Re: 30 amp heater fuse blowing
I'd be inclined to replace the motor - freeing up the old one (esp. for the second time) sounds less likely to produce a good long term result. Interesting a fuse blew as often it seems to be the fan resistor that burns out. If it does it can usually be resoldered as a repair (there's a factsheet in members area). And check / unblock the drain hole at regular intervals

Thanks for that.
Will any make of motor do or does it have to be Mazda Specific.

Re: 30 amp heater fuse blowing
Good point. There has been someone advertising Bongo motors on ebay (not sure if they still are, plus maybe double check their reputation on here). Also, I have a niggling feeling there was discussion over whether other motors would fit and if they were cheaper. Otherwise, someone like Bongobits could advise and would I think sell them. They are not cheap, but then what is these daystechnophobe wrote:Thanks for that.

Re: 30 amp heater fuse blowing
Had the repair done as suggested fan motor replaced as suggested.
It turned out that the motor was 'shot' and would just turn at 36amp and the resistor was fried wafer thin. This was bout the only thing we did not check when the vehicle arrived on the quay side.
Incidentally does the same motor also drive the rear climate control?
At least this bit is ready for Poland.
