I have done the lazy quick method, pumped out the old oil, (about 4.3 ltr of dextron 3/III) and refilled with just over 4 ltr. I have done about a couple of hundred miles and the fluid is a nice clear red colour. I would have done a (proper change) but with going away and the gear changes seemed to be deteriorating I wanted a quick job done. The changes are super smooth now, for the cost of the oil I might change the oil yearly.

Checked the level again this evening & it seems to have dropped a bit, so have now put another 1/2 litre in. Will monitor it tomorrow. The thing that transpired whilst chatting to Keith was that when I removed my filter, I didn't loose the extra 2 litres that he did. Having discussed the filters, we concluded they were different. Mine was a pressed steel casing, held in place by 4 x 10mm bolts, with a round hole at the top & square output at the bottom. These holes were offset so you could not see thru the mesh, although you can see one side of it from both holes. The only picture I can find is on Lushprojects, & its the box shown underneath o-ring no. 31.

We can only conclude that we've got different gearboxes. Anyone else got any ideas?
