Sliding Door Closer-Wassit do?

Post by Chas » Wed Jun 11, 2008 1:17 pm

I noticed someone mention the sliding door closer on another thread. When I close the door on my Bongo there's a whirring noise but that's all. Is this right?

When you close it from the outside and you hear it whirring, watch it closely because it should be pulling itself in flush to meet the front door and the rear panel and thus closing properly.

That probably explains why I've never notice it doing anything, used to have a VW and my last van was a Citroen Dispatch, you had to slam both shut. I'll try to be gentle with my Bongo from now on

I'm forever telling the kids to stop slamming the side door. :x

You just need to shut it till you hear a click, (front latch) It then does it's whirring thing as it closes, than clicks as the latch at the back catches.

I think I read somewhere about the Bongo manual (or summat) stating specifically that the sliding door should not be slammed as it may damage it. I remind the kids of this regularly

I've found since owning a Friendie, i somewhat resent having passengers... they always mess it up.
