Hello Yorkshire and North East
Hi
I have had my Bongo for 18 months and been on this site for a few years before I bought it.
I have had fantastic tips on everything from how to camp. to how to change the heater plugs.
I am currently trying to make my Bongo as cool as possble, but sadly everything has to be on a tight budget.
So far I have;
Dyed the blinds black (dark grey actually)
Dyed the carpets black (darkish grey again)
Fitted seat covers
Fitted some screens from an old dvd player I was given in the headrests.
Fitted a new type centre console I bought for next to nothing.
Swopped the 15" alloys it came with for some 17" ones.
I am at the moment sorting the roof with a Mini Cooper chequer board pattern with some 7 year vynil I managed to get hold of.
We use our Bongo nearly every week now we are getting into the warmer weather, and thanks to BF we are using veg oil at 86p a litre.
Happy Bongo-ing to all in Yorkshire.
I have hardly seen any since I bought it, but there must be some around here!
Dave

Belated welcome Discount Dave
Re: Hello Yorkshire and North East
Welcome Dave,
I understand your quest to cool the Bongo down - they do get rather hot in the sun
One thing that does confuse me though - why black for the blinds, doesn't black absorb heat therefore making it hotter Would white or silver (reflective outside ) be better
I see you already have the "Bongo Pimping Bug"
Mike

Re: Hello Yorkshire and North East
The grey blinds would not clean up very well, I tried all the stuff mentioned on here without success.
I dyed them to cover up the smoke stains. (and to be a bit different to be honest!)
It is a lot better in the morning when camping as it stays a wee bit darker in the van.
Just dyed the front mats, and about to do the rear ones.
I definitely have the pimp bug.
Just sorted the cables for the screens. They now connect to either a 12 volt digi-box (£10 asda) or an ipod so we can watch films. Both are low power consumption so we easily manage with a power pack instead of a proper liesure battery.
Will try and post pictures of my 'mini roof' when its done.
