Plastic engine tray thingy???

Post by maxheadroom » Wed Jun 04, 2008 8:33 pm

I have never had a plastic under engine tray thingy thing fitted on my Bongo. Can anyone shed light on the pros and cons of having one or not having one.
Cheers guys :D

Engines quieter with it on, possibly it directs air flow for better cooling, protects the sump etc from road debris?
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Exactly - I reckon it's intended to create a low pressure area behind/below the engine bay to create a natural airflow when moving.

and the engine is definitely quieter with it fitted

your not helping

Negatives . . . . .

The extra weight of dragging around a dirty tray can reduce fuel consumption by up to 0.001%

Its something else to replace when it goes wrong

& they only come in black.

Don't have a tray on mine either. It's only going to be noisier on the outside, but apart from that, no other adverse effects.
