power steering

forgive me if i repeat a thread. My steering has gone all heavy, then fine, then play in it. I'm thinking there needs to be something done to the power steering fluid thing (haven't found it yet) :? . Thing is the manual says to jack both wheels up and stuff, but I don't have that luxury. Is it worth garaging it to investigate further, or wait until its always dodgy? daft questions i know but that's me. Wish I had more money than sense to take it to a garage. If you want to take on a bongo for those extra little jobs inbetween the major services (in the hants area) i'd willingly bring her to you.

The power steering reservoir bottle is under the drivers seat, may just need topping up
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.
