Help Bongoliers
My Oil Light Is Flickering very dimly below a 1000 rpm.
First Thougt faulty pressure switch fitted new switch still the same.
Even with wire (brown/white) disconected at plug near alternator still the same.
Before i start opening up the loom to see if it is chafed through any Ideas Chaps.
2.5 TD 4wd Auto freetop plenty of oil in and no Knocking so pressure is fine ang light goes off when revved above 1000 rpm

Thanks

John
Bongoliers
As The Switch Had Been Replaced , And The Fault Was Still There With It Disconnected It Had To Be a Wiring Fault.

The Brown With With A White Tracer Cable Coming From The Pressure Switch Was Cut At The Switch End And Where It Goes In To The Smaller Plug Of The 2 That Plug Into The Dash Pod And a New Piece Of Cable Spliced In.FAULT CURED.... NEW CABLE ROUTED CORRECTLY AND SECURED. It Takes Far Less Time To Do This Tham Try To Trace Whwre It Was Going To earth..
IF IN ANY DOUBT CHECK OIL PRESSURE FIRST.

Thanks For Your Comments

thats low oil pressure in the engine.

try a new pressure sensor first and pray its just that

All a sensor is is a pressure switch, it makes contact when the pressure in the line falls so you have two options

a cheap switch
OR
an expensive engine re build

so guess where I'd start!

As you have done the sensor just a daft question

You are running on turbo diesel engine oils arn't you
not that thin 10/40 stuff used in petrol engines?
the correct oil ( thicker) has more ......how do you say 'stiction' and sticks to the engine bearings etc to aid lubrication and keeps the pressure up.

I tried to explain that in simple language because the real details are most confusing and for non engineers VERY BORING.

Just think ''thick'' oil means more pressure

I was gonna talk about blood pressure/ cloesterol/ and rat poison but you would get confused........

Good luck
