Trip counter and mileometer

Hello learned friends.

Any suggestions for mileometer not working or trip counter and speedo working most of the time?
I am worried I am clocking up unregistered mileage although I am keeping a record. Took head unot off today but it's like loking inside a calculator????????????

you can try cleaning the connections to the facia or is it chipped or modified in any way

It appears to be chipped. Thing I don't get is, speedo works most of the time, any ideas? Is there a way to remove the chip, is this even legal? I am no electrician btw.
