What are the 'gizmo's in the way of the glow plugs?

Post by Bongo-Shaftsbury » Sun Apr 20, 2008 8:55 pm

Whilst replacing the two rear glow plugs i had to shift the Thingamabobs With Pipes out of the way. In doing so I snapped one of said pipes (The one going to the air filter line).

Does anybody know what these are? Can just chuck them in the skip or not? (which is what I nearly did after they helped remove a layer of skin from my finger in getting them out)

they are for the egr valve and to do with the air con. not a good idea to skip them, sometimes you can glue the plastic back together.
not entirely sure if you can just blank it off as it provides vacuum to the others there if i remember ok.

not sure just which part you broke-but had a similar thing with ours.
repaired using small metal tube glued into the air filter line. 8)

Is this pipe definitely EGR related? Other posts on stopping the EGR valve operating describe how to bung up a tube near to this but I don't think it was this actual one.

However, I've found several posts now that seem to have a broken green thing so i'll bung it up anyway. What's the worst that could happen? [-o<
