Anyone recommend a Northwest Bongo dealer?

Post by artp8 » Sat Apr 19, 2008 6:42 pm

Was planning on buying a VW camper - until I cam across the Bongo...

Think now that my money will definitely go further with a Bongo Camper, so next question is whether anyone can recommend a good Bongo dealer in the North West? Ideally not too far from Knutsford area.

Thanks - and hope to own a Bongo soon...

I got mine from Manchester Campers, based in Denton. Can't fault it - had it about 18 months now with no problems at all.

I agree if you want one the go to WHeelquick - and then kit it out, or alternatively buy privately from the website.

Well I know what I would like - just now need to find one that fits the bill - and then need to ascertain whether it is a good buy or not.

I want:
2.5l diesel
2wd or 4wd
New shape - ideally
sink
cold water
hob fridge
electrics
table
40k miles or less
tv/dvd - can do this after myself I guess
Alarm/immobiliser - again can get this fitted later
no tow bar
window tint

So if anyone sees anything please let me know...

Any 10 year old vehicle that has done 40k or less should be treated with suspicion.

Bongos need to be USED to stop the systems sludging up.

Mine's done 219,000km and still runs like new except for the odd part just wearing out. :D

(High milage with bits wearing out...missus says it sounds self descriptive  )

Good luck with your quest.

I have up to 10k Bongonaut - so looking around really as I don't want to pay over the odds - but likewise don;t want a duffer.

Looking for something that is S/T plate onwards - though preferably the new shape - but in fairness if the Bongo is right I don;t mind the older shape....

Just hunting around to see what is about. I can;t bring myself to go back as far as an N plate for 10k

So have to see what crops up - I'd like to get a fresh import though and then get it fully "seen" to - waxed, serviced, cambelted up, tyres, brakes etc etc....

I'm hoping that my budget allows for what I want - just want to make sure I don't buy the first I see and then find a better one a week later for cheaper :)

Hi m8, Hotpot picked up a belter new shape on a t plate from Ian taylor, you could pm her,
Her's is really a top machine, I think it was under 10k,
You should get a good motor for the amount your gonna spend.
Good luck with your search.

Depends what sort of conversion it's got I expect. Mine's N reg and cost £9000 with the Manchester Campers 'middle' conversion, new tyres, full service, warranty etc. etc. Only had 33K (Km) on the clock and was immaculate. I agree the odometer reading was suspiciously low but I've not had any problems with it.

Hiya, and thanks platty345 :)

Ian Taylor did a great job of sourcing me an unconverted bongo, though he sells them converted. It does depend on what kind of conversion you want obviously, as to how much you can spend on your base vehicle. As a rough guess, 10k will probably get you something like a nice '97 with full conversion fitted. You will definitely get something really nice for that amount anyway, Ian's in Market Drayton, worth a trip out to see what he's got in and discuss what's the best he could do for your budget. Best of luck in your search anyway!
