Bongo Fury

I've been tracing a leak from my fuel pump and am sure that it is coming from the rear of the unit where the 4 fuel lines leave the pump. You can clearly see the drips of diesel in the picture below. I think the drip maybe coming from the plug at the end of the pump as there is an o-ring behind it.


Has anyone had any experience of removing this plug and replacing the o-ring? If so, can it be done in situe and are there any pitfalls I should be aware of? I've read the excellent posting by Dandywarhol on replacing the other 2 o-rings, but I'm pretty sure the leak is coming from the plug (when I run a finger over the area near the other 0-rings I don't get any diesel).

Any advice/comment would be appreciated.

Not sure but it looks like it may have a soft aluminium washer under it.

Should be ok to open that - it's where the DTI gauge is inserted for timing it.

Right, now I'm 95% sure the leak is coming from the "plug" and I've been trying to get the thing off. 2 problems, 1: I can't easily get a socket in to remove it, 2: I'm not sure if the usual hex socket will fit - because of the unusual shape.

Does anyone know if, 'cause I lack a bit of experience in this area, whether a hex socket should undo this or do I need a special socket?



At the moment, it looks like the only way in is to remove 1 or two of the fuel lines.
