Glow Plug Length 92mm

Post by Bongo-Shaftsbury » Mon Apr 14, 2008 8:35 pm

Following on from this ancient topic....
http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... hilit=1850
....there are definitely some 92mm glow plugs out there because I have some too.

There's a picture in this post was very useful in working out that mine are different:

What I also found is that my plugs were not fully screwed in. There was about 5mm of thread showing. So, what I'd like to know is:

1) Should glow plugs normally be screwed in fully? If not this makes the length of plug required difficult to work out.

2) Rhod (or anyone else with 92mm plugs), what part no. have you replaced yours with?

The part I have is stamped 067100-1850 and looks like this:

The plugs do have some thread showing when they are installed.
I had 102mm plugs but replaced them with the 83mm ones - just had to bend the fuel pipes so that they didn't short out the bus bar.

It the torque that is important rather the amount of thread. I seem to recall it's 15 - 19 Nm.

Thanks for the info. I'll probably go for the 83mm ones.

Haven't got around to replacing mine yet I'm afraid - am in the process of checking if a bigger battery solves the problem, but a failed alternatord has got in the way!
