black smoke lots of diesel!

Help!! My bongo chucks out black smoke when I first start and accelerate off roundabouts and also it is using an awful lot of diesel, any ideas??

The obvious answer is that the injection is wrongly set up, that black smoke is just wasted unburnt fuel - look at it as lots of tiny £ signs.

It could be the pump itself pushing out too much fuel or trouble with the injectors.

You need to visit a good diesel specialist (not just a Bongo friendly garage) who can analyse what the problem might be.

First stop air filter it's pipe work and the intake.

...and there have been one or two incidences of bottles and other stuff left under the bonnet being sucked into the intake and blockng it. Worth a check before the £ stuff 8)

I must admit I assumed these had been checked and discounted a blockage as no loss of performance or cutting out was mentioned.
