acceleration

Had the van now for 3 years and other than the usual N0.1 exhaust bolt shearing(2)its been reliable. Is it my imagination or do turbo diesels go quicker when the engine is cold?
Other people driving it think its a bit of a donkey but on the shopping trip this morning it flew, however when the engine is fully warmed up and the air temp.is reasonably high(that rare event, like yesterday)I would agree its not that fast.Dont get me wrong I'm not a speed merchant but somethings not right with it.
Could it be the manifold leaking again(no audible squeak etc) or the turbo(cuts in fairly late) or something simple like an oil change(over 5000 on present sump)needed?Any thoughts on this. :?

Turbo anything unless it's got a really good inter cooler will
produce more power in cold and damp conditions than warm
and dry, look under the front you will see the intake to the
inter cooler clean any crap out I used a brush with paraffin
and then flushed it from the back with a hose, if your really
keen take it off and rinse its insides out with paraffin, but
make sure you don't leave any in there as the engine may
run away on it with disastrous results.
It may also be worth looking if the little rubber pipe is on
and not leaking from the turbo to the fuel pump.
May be worth checking the air filter as well.

Spot on advise ralph,as ever...

I fitted a K&N filter to my bongo rocketron, which seems to "dampen" the situation you mentioned
