abs fault

Post by robdrinky » Thu Apr 03, 2008 9:55 pm

by way of an update to our abs fault light being on intermittently(previous post in jan).
the fault light has been on consistently for the last couple of weeks and the mot is looming.
i decided to do some fault finding again-turns out now that the drivers side front sensor has no continuity and gives a very low output voltage(compared to the others) when the wheel is spun.
at least thats something positive-just got to source and fit a new one then hopefully that will be job done. :)

Fixing ABS can be an expensive job. At least a sensor should be a cheaper proposition than the pump. A dealer may be your best proposition for one or alternatively you could try the club's Partfinder service.

All we've got to do now is work out which other (more generally available mazda) used the same sensor.... erm..... :?

Watching this thread with interest......my ABS light has been on constantly now for months, and my MOT is looming too. None of the garages up here seem to have a clue because theres no 'OBD' style diagnostic port on the Bongo to tell them whats wrong

robdrinky ,if you could post a part number and where you bought it from, would be useful to other bongoers.
glad you sorted it out ,quite annoying the light staying on for no apparent reason

Apart from the part number on lushprojects i have no other numbers.
I got the part from automotive japanese spares in coventry, mainly because they could get one to me in a couple of days(mot looming).
Also ians partfinder service and bellhill could supply. 8)

Having same trouble with my ABS light, staying on all the time. Up in Claughton at the moment. Where are the rear sensors situated in relation to rear wheels and how do I check them (the sensors) with a meter, which I haven't got? Being a bit of a numpty I need 'Janet and John' instructions!
In the meantime I will contact 'Wheelquick' again and ask them if they can check them out.
