Central locking

My central locking has stopped working. It did work and then worked spasmodically before giving up altogether. Does anyone know how to fix it?

It's not just the battery in the transmitter is it? If there's no noise it could just be a loose wire/connection in the drivers door which is where the receiver/control unit should be fitted, try the loom between door & body. If you have a multi meter check 2 see if there's output voltage to the actuator on the door from the control unit when you press the button. Actuator may be duff.
Could just be an actuator linkage come loose if it's making noises, but not doing anything.
Maplins should be able to provide anything you need to fix it if someone on here hasn't got any spare bits, I think a new remote central locking system is only £20.
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.
