speedo jumping around

hi,
i finally got my 2.5 v6 petrol bongo registered over the weekend,and drove it for the first time today.the speedo seems to read correctly,but every now and then the needle will`jump`a little then settle back down.is this usual when it`s been converted to mph?is there anything i can do to remedy it?

is the speedo chipped., if so it can cause the speedo to be twitchy
