Have to tread a little carefully here, this topic has caused a few swinging handbags in the past!
Do a search, you'll find it easy enough.

Ahh i see, of course i can also see the other factor of setting off a flare, when there is no real emergency!. But it's too great a temptation!.
So in way im glad that mine has been removed!. I would be spanked quite severely else.

There is confusion as to whether or not the flares are legal for road use in this country - I handed mine to the police.

NIGELGINNY - Please do not set off the flare when you come down to the coast. There are enough real emergencies off the Dorset coast without the need for more false alarms. If it excites you that much I suggest you wait till November 5th in East Sussex, and as far away from the coast as you can get! Thank you

its a glowing red smoke flare that you put on the road if you breakdown (in japan of course not here) do not hold it it will burn you, and do you honestly want to trust something that old (12 years ).get rid.
Lost without my Bongo.
