Front wheel bearings

Post by Hooligan » Sat Feb 16, 2008 8:14 pm

Anybody done front wheel bearings?? I've got play in the offside front wheel when gripped and 'wiggled' at 12&6 o'clock and also 3&9 o'clock positions... i'm guessing that's bearings unless anybody can say otherwise. (I've changed droplinks and roll bar bushes so far at the front)

Is it a pig of a job?? :?

Do you get a whine from the bearings when running? If not it could be the bottom balljoint and not the bearing. Get a bar under it and see if there's any play. Unfortunately the balljoint is pressed into the subframe so you have to replace the lot. Check out the fact sheet if you end up going down this route and try a Mazda dealer for replacement rather than Bongobits - apparently cheaper!
