Tyre Pressures?

Post by Stubbsy » Tue Jan 29, 2008 8:16 pm

Hi All,

I have just bought a 2WD AFT Bongo which has the ever popular RX8 wheels fitted..... The tyre size is 225/45/18 All round.

Could someone please advise me as to what tyre pressures I should be running for daily road use? 99% of the time there are just 2 people in the vehicle and no kit and then the occassional "fully loaded" trip away.

Thanks for the advice!!!!

Welcome aboard Stubbsy, hand book says 1.8 bar, front and 2.4 bar, rear for standard tyres. I know a lot of folk on here successfully run higher pressures.

Might be worth trying a search for 'Tyre AND Pressures'.

It's a case of suck it and see when you don't have standard tyres - try 35psi all round and see how it handles and the tyres wear.

I know its a heavier vehicle, but plenty of people on the VW forum seem to be running T4's with 18's at 45 psi

I run on rx8's with 235/40/18's on and the tyre suppliers said 42 psi.

They seem to be fine and i trust the guy i've used him for years.

I run my 225/45/18's on 40 p.s.i. Stubbsy. (though i may up it to 42p.s.i)

The handbook figures for tyre pressures are for the tyres the bongo left the factory with.

Excellent - thanks for the warm welcome and helpful info guys and girls.

Will set them to 40psi and go from there.

Much appreciated.
