The starter solenoid repair kits from Southampton Auto Electrical come with a new plunger but only one contact. However on the last 2 I have stipped it's always the contact that is not supplied that needs replacing....!!!
Dave at Southampton Auto Electrical is looking into sourcing the the second contact, otherwise its "fabricate your own!".

Their number is 02380 211988 not the number in a previous posting that goes to the fax machine!
Watch this space for further details re 2nd contact

If you need a temporary repair (ie get me home..!) you can space the contact in by using a standard size washer, the plunger then touches on fresh copper.
BEWARE. Make sure the plunger does not foul on the copper bolt heads if the washer is too thick and ensure the washer is placed between the contact and the insulator. At your own risk..!! This is a temporary measure.

Sounds like I must have been lucky with mine, as I just replaced the contact supplied and cleaned the other one. It has been absolutely fine ever since.

I would have expected the smaller contact (supplied with the repair kit) to to be in worse condition, but on two solenoids it has been the larger rounded contact that has worn substantially.
I'm looking at some angled copper bus-bar that might be just the job so fingers crossed

Yes spoke to him this morning, he'll confirm it is the correct part when he receives them, early next week.
The plunger and Both contacts (if correct) should cost under £20
The extra contact for those who already have plunger and a single contact for a few pounds.

Update to follow

It turns out that the nice man at ALTERNATOR MART.CO.UK will offer a refund on the starter, so when new contact turns up in the post tomorrow then and it actually works then I might just make it out of this whole debacle older wiser and not out of pocket....Happy ending? watch this space..

Can confirm that Auto Electrical Supplies have sourced suitable contacts for the whole solenoid system - I ordered last week and got the solenoid plunger as well as 2 sets of contacts for £18.80 - no carriage charge.

I just mentioned Mazda Bongo and they new what I wanted. Telephone number is 02380 211988 and not the previous Fax number quoted.
