1995 Ford Freda Turbo Hose
The engine was running perfectly until I stopped at the traffic lights. I pulled away and the vehicle suddenly lost all power,i.e. no revs. I looked in my rear view mirror and saw clouds of grey smoke. My first thought was that the turbo had failed. I checked the engine and saw that the turbo hose, the fat U shaped one, had collapsed and was restricting the air to the turbo, I massaged it back into shape and restarted the engine, as soon as I revved up it collapsed again. Has any one any idea of the cause. and more importantly, the cure. I've tried to get a new one without success. I'm told it will have to come from Japan. If I get one is there any point fitting it, is there a hidden cause. I'd hate to damage the turbo.
Thanks for any help.
Thanks for any help.
Scanner, You're a genius. I'd checked the air filter, which had just been changed at a service and it was clean and clear. But I'd not thought of checking the air intake under the bonnet. My own stupidity had caused the problem. I'd topped uo the windscreen water bottle a couple of days before and had left the empty bottle near the intake. Needles to say it was blocking off the intake. Problem solved. I owe you a couple of drinks if we ever meet. Thanks again.

I'm sure I won't be the last. But it has highlighted a problem. No one seems to stock these hoses. I put out a request to a website, [email protected], this goes to a large number of Breakers, I've not had a single reply. When I needed a front drive shaft I had seven replies and offers of the part. Anyway, Freda is back to normal and drinking diesel at her normal rate.
