New clutch...no change
Happy New Year to all....need help please.
After a gearbox oil ( manual box) change i am having real trouble selecting 2nd / 3rd / reverse....but only when van is cold, warmed up for a 15min drive and everything is fine. Have been assured that the correct oil and amount were put in - AVA did it so i have no reason to doubt.
Clutch had been playing up anyway, and after much deliberating and posting decided to replace it...but no change, now i'm gutted, broke and short on ideas. Have the van booked in to my local garage on Thursday and could do with some ideas first.
Does anyone know the correct spec of oil and amount.?
Gearbox selects fine when engine is off / on and when clutch depressed and stationary - move and everything goes pear shaped.
thanks.

The manual states Long Life gearoil SAE 75W90. Never heard of 75W90 but I reckon 80 would be fine.
It's filled up to a level plug but I don't know how much it takes.
Never heard of anyone changing the pedal to sort out a dragging clutch Ian

Is it a cable/rod operated clutch or hydraulic?(mine's an auto so I don't know). If cable/rod, try adjusting it cos' you may have too much free play at the pedal. The pedal shouldn't travel much more than about 5mm before you feel the resistance of the clutch springs.

With regard to the forward gears it sounds to me like you gearbox needs reconditioning. How many miles has it done?
Not sure why the reverse should be playing up unless the selector linkcages have been disturbed in which case they may need setting up.
I know of shifting problems in the VAG world which have been sorted using this: http://www.redlineoil.com/products_gear ... tegoryID=7
I would get the box nice and warm, drain and replace and see what that gives you. Got to be worth a punt at around £20, especially as problems started after gearbox oil change.

Cannot find it for that money anywhere anymore. How much does the Bongo g/box take?
Best I can find it is £14/L. Still if it cures the problem it has to be worth it?
Not sure whether to reccomend MT 90 or MTL. Anyone else know?
