I bought two sets as they are the same fitting, as the rear license plate LED's I've already fitted, when I tried to replace the 4 LED's with the 9's to get even more light onto the road below to aid reversing at night, The problem is that the socket started to smoke,

I used the LED that started the smoking, in a sidelight fitting, and it works ok.

Could it be due to having one 4 LED lamp lit whilst fitting a 9 LED causing the smoke/large draw of current?
The sad thing is, I should know having an HND in Electrical and Electronic engineering, but that was in the late 80's, early 90's, ( when a 386 computer was king!) and I killed a few brain cells since then.
