I'd have thought this was one of the less sought after items on Bongos being broken so should be eas to source. Waycar8 is breaking his Bongo at present, and there are one or two on ebay. Others advertise on BF etc.

That's a bit of bad news Flippa :( I bet you wish you'd chanced the saab seats instead now eh?

I've never really checked out the winch mechanism thingy...is it in a little box?(guessing) Is it removeable?

No steel wire windy-uppie things in the scrap yard then? There's several Bongos being broken on eBay right now, as well as one in the For Sale section. Also try one of the garages that advertise on the forum - they're bound to have one.

I'd be very wary about swaping the seats as they are an integral part of the vehicles safety system. The seatbelt sockets are fitted to the frame of the Bongo seat & the whole lot slides in the runners. Fitting Saab seats is a popular mod for owners of VW type 2 vans, but they have a nice big flat floor pan to bolt to, whereas the mounting points on the Bongo are at funny angles. Even if they did fit, you would need to see if they would fold over enough to allow easy access to the engine.

 ...with my luck around nuts and bolts .....i'd end up sitting on a bucket ...thats why i walked away ....and just so iam not tempted have decided the scrapyard is out of bounds for the foreseeable cos iam ending up with aload of bits and bobs  and my bongo seems to throw a sickie whenever he's there  8-[
