There is lots of info on the net about con-artists selling junk - key words like vortex should get something.

Any restriction in the inlet is, funnily enough, a restriction.

Vortex

I am not surprised you are interested Haydn.

So a jagged circle in the bottom of the air filter is going to create a vortex like a dyson vacuum cleaner, this whirling dirvish of air is going to whizz round the back of the engine, through the turbo where it is compressed, then down the air pipe to the front of the vehicle, through the intercooler and then back up the length of the vehicle to the air inlet manifold and its still spinning???????????????????????? Hee Hee Hee, you pays your money and you take your chances. :o - I think not.

Yessssiree, buy one of our patent air devices, and put pounds in our pockets....oops, your pocket. You can just hear the snake- oil salesman.
Incidentally, if the Septics have anything to do with it, we'll be running coal fired Bongos, as they are now thinking of converting coal-to-oil, as the South Africans did during sanctions. This will reduce the Septics reliance on the Middle Eastern countries (the Septics' best friends)
Cheers

There used to be something like this years ago and it did work (at least it did in my 850cc Mini), but it was fitted between the carb and the inlet manifold - can't see how it can possibly do anything for a Bongo.

Most intake systems already use a vortex of some sorts in their design - looks like pish to me........... 8)

Perhaps a million people will see that advert on EBay.

If they sell to just 0.1% of the gullible people out there that is, er, fingers and counting, abbaccus, calculator - soddit, a helluva profit for a worthless piece of junk.

I tend to ask myself "why didn't the proud manufacturer of the vehicle fit it and use it as a high-profile selling point in the ads when it was new".

They use a similar looking device on caterpillar machines it's called a spinner and its job is to cause a vortex in a pre-cleaner air filter to minimise particulates being caught in the filter elements. Thus prolonging the elements life.
