help what is the hieght of my bongo

simple question cant find a thread on the hieght of my tin top cant measure it cause its in the garage, i awoke this morning to having the council digging up the archway to my garage and they gonna raise the hight of the road, need to make sure it will go under!!!!!!!!!!!

Tin top is 1.96m or 6ft 5"

Thanx Max dont suppose you know what hieght they have to legally leave? i know its a certain hieght i not gonna be chuffed if the van wont go under it!!

So far as I know they have to preserve your present circumstances.
Have they served you with a notice of works affecting your property?

If not, I'd ring the relevant dept. at the council and inform them that if they do anything that materially detracts from your "continuing enjoyment of your property" (i.e. any thing they do prevents you from continuing to use your property in the way you do now) you will be putting the matter in the hands of your Solicitor.

Insist that the leave enough height for you to pass under the archwayin your Bongo unhindered. Leaving the road its current height under the archway if neccessary and installing a drain under the archway to prevent flooding in the dip created.

See your local Citizens Advice people then go to a solicitor if they advise and claim costs if the council are awkward.

I've got the very same 'Max height plaque' installed in my Bongo that is being sold on Ebay.

No more panic now as I approach car park height barriers.

There are other max height indicators for those who have roof racks/bars or top boxes.

If you value your Bongo you should not place too much trust in a given height and allow a few inches or centimeters to spare. Remember this post from the North West Area.

Please be very careful and don't trust the height display.
Years ago, I had a Sherpa Minibus, I forget the height it was, but it went easily under a marker board at a Multi-storey car park in Wigan, with inches to spare.
The problem was when trying to leave the 3rd floor(Yes! I had got all the way up there no trouble)
When the front of your vehicle enters the down ramp, there is a lever effect, the rear comes up and the roof hit a cross beam. I had to reverse up, let down my tyres and get everyone sat at the back, with 2 car park attendants stood on the rear corner bumpers, eventually I got out. They had a stick with the height on it and showed me the beam was correct for the markings and when we put it along side my mini-bus, it was well above the height, no-one could understand it, until I got home and put 2 and 2 together, thick car park designers.

Recomend telling them you need 6'10" (2.1 metric yards) just incase you ever want an AFT. Easier to do it now than come back in 2 years.
