Harrys marquee at the meets ?

Post by daveblueozzie » Thu Nov 01, 2007 9:44 am

Got your attention, good, now sit back have a read and a think about what i am going to propose.
At Silverdale (and other meets Harry has brought his marquee) and you must admit we cannot do without it now. if you remember there was also another marquee at the side of Harrys. that we borrowed from Silverdale campsite.

Harry is selling his marquee and offered the N/W YORKSHIRE CLAN first refusal

Now the proposal, Costco have a similar marquee as the one we borrowd from Silverdale for i think £160 (if i have read it right) and i was thinking if the NORTH WEST/YORKSHIRE clan would consider DONATING A ONE OFF PAYMENT OF £10.00 (a tenner) per bongo towards buying both marquee's.
It is 10 feet by 20 feet so i think about the same size. it can then be brought to each meet and erected next to Harrys .(also consider Harry may not be able to attend all the meets, he is a very busy person) and at least this would be able to be taken to a meet by me or someone else as needed.
It could also be borrowed by a bongoer for a party or other occasion if not being used at a meet.

Now does that sound like a good idea or am i being a bit thick.

I have worked it out we need about 32 bongoes to donate to buy these marquee's,now i know thats a lot ,so if you think its a good idea you could always donate a little bit more and then we may be able to get this without needing so many, any extra money over can be used for the lights that we use, costco also have them for about £12 each.

I have to thank PETE (snowkiter) for the idea.

Count me in...great idea...as I can't commit to all NW/Yorks meets.

Having said that....If the 'consortium' were to offer me £160 for my marquee...and someone else to look after it I'd accept.

cheers

HARRY now dont take this the wrong way but i was not going to ask you for any money as you have the marquee we use now. and i was thinking if we have two there would always be at least one to use at the meets.
Plus dont you use the marquee for your shows ?

What a great idea if I do say so myself :D

I will donate towards the fund.

All we need now is someone with 188 inches pleasure, a trailer and plenty of storage space who is going to attend all the meets

No probs...I'm happy to keep on bringing the marquee to meets as long as I have it, but I will be advertising it for sale next spring as we are 'downsizing' our exhibition space and using indoor trade stands whenever possible neaxt year. I'll probably be buying a new popup gazebo with sides.

So if I get the price I want (I was aiming at £175) I'll be selling the marquee next spring anyway. I'd be happy to accept £160 from my friends and to move it on early.

cheers

Sounds an excellant idea, hopefully you get inundated with donations. For us non-northerners, it could also be a good idea to use at other Bongo Meets?
The price seems very good, set against what most marquee companies are asking on ebay.
Any chance of a picture of Harry's tent & an address for Costco?

Psssst, We have a marquee that can be used anytime (even if we are not going to one of the meets, if someone could pick it up it's no problem). I am taking this to Buxton . Still, we won't mind putting money in kitty to get another.

:D

Problem is... if we buy one, who will be available for storage, transport and erection?

(oh yes... managed to get the word erection into a sensible post)
