Loads of stuff on here about it, rear seats back all the way, middle forward all the way, rip up carpet (strength needed) unscrew cover disconnect and clean contacts, drill 2nd hole, attach wire with screw to bare metal as 2nd backup earth, replace everything. There.

I did one the other day - same procedure to get to it as David says.
To establish that the fault lies in the sender not the gauge, remove the plastic wiring connector from the sender, take a piece of electrical cable, strip the ends about 1/2 inch, and put one end of the cable into the cable which isn't black (forgotton the colour of it) and the other to a good earth. Switch on the "ignition" and if the fuel gauge goes up to full then the fault lies in the sender/or earth.
I then stuffed the bared end of electrical cable into the BLACK cable going to the sender and refitted the plastic connector to the sender unit. I then fitted a small "O" electrical connector to the other end of the "new earth cable" and secured it under one of the sender unit cros headed screws.
The job's a carrot - gauge working

Hi all
Many many thanks to all. Now working...and I thought I only had a 30L tank as it used to go from full to empty in no time!

No no no, I am off to Devon tomorrow for a week and I have spoken with the great pumpkin and the jeebers guy and been promised a week of fine weather. Besides my dragons are shedding scales and they never do that if its gonna rain, gets very damp in the caves complex see,.

So it has to be fine.
