hello all last saturday when heading from home to auckland international airport i managed to get about three miles down the road heard a strange noise looked at the guages to find it on hot
i am now fitting the new cylender head and need to know do you set valve clearance at the valve or at th cam my reason for this question is you would need some very thin feeler guages to do at the valve end so i thnk set them at cam but......

Hi Lee

We need to kno2w which engine you've got.

The vast majority of UK bongos have 2.5 turbo diesels.

There are a few petrol jobbies. either 2.5 or 2.0 litre

My Manual says:

No.4 is set at TDC

Standard Value

IN: 0.1 ± 0.05mm (Cold)
OUT 0.2 ± 0.05mm (Cold)

Only one set of values given so must be the same for both types of Bongos.

If you are in NZ, please put your location in you profile.

Could save a lot of confusion/frustration.

Thanks

(unless you happen to live at Auckland, Chester Le Street, Durham DH2, UK, which I dont believe has an International Airport) :D
