Would I be correct in assuming the rear interior light switch on the tailgate is just a simple 'connect-down-to-chassis' job? It doesn't operate a relay does it?
My light is staying on when I shut the tailgate but it's not the switch - it stays on even if I disconnect it inside the rear panel. If it's not operating a relay then I must have a short circuit down to chassis somewhere. I wouldn't bother if it was just the light but the alarm thinks the door is open.
This just happened today after I fitted the Mason alarm but I can't believe there's anything behind the dash I could have pulled off that would cause this.
Rear interior light staying on

OK it's sorted. To cut a long story short - the burglar alarm fitters had connected a wire from the back of the interior light and joined it to a wire under the dash. The fitter had soldered the wires together and wound insulation tape over it but had left a tiny bit of bare wire at the end. This was touching the metal strut next to the fuse box.
I'm wondering if this has been the cause of another problem I've had for a while - the alarm has been going off on it's own very occasionally.

I hope the burglar alarm fitters are making suitable recompense Vincebongolow wrote:OK it's sorted.
