Glue for side plastic windshield

The plastic windshields over the driver / passenger door

Any suggestions on how to

a) Remove old glue that has now failed, still on van and not joining plastic
b) Suggestions for replacement glue?

Hi,

I just used clear silicone on mine. Didnt bother removing the old glue.
