stainless exhaust system

Hi .. for those ofyou contemplating fitting a stainless system . .I just completed the job, and thought that a few pointers might be of interst;
1 You will need access to a ramp or pit . . with the van up on axle stands , it will be quite a difficult job
2 You will need heat ..the flange bolts at the exhaust valve , have their heads tackwelded through a support bracket,which is then rubber bushed onto a bracket, bolted to VC housing, and they are tight . .very tight, due to having a washer formed as part of the nut with a serrated face..the copper sealing ring can be reused ..smear it with a proprietary exhaust paste
3 after that its easy . .exhaust paste on the joint above the rear axle ..nip up your flange bolts hang the rubber mountings . .check your clearances, mine was close to the floor ,on the upper curve. .a little judicious use of heat on the exhaust support arms, I tweaked them up a little to drop the unit slightly[ take off your rubber hangers first] again at the rear I had to use heat to adjust the exhaust support arm, because it was a tad too close to the bumper bar . .for those without a rear bar,it would be fine. .then tighten up all your joints . .!
All in all ..pretty straight forward . .my system came from Longlife. .and I'm very pleased with the quality . .but as I stated earlier .. access is the key

"Good on ya! " for doing it yourself. Mine is booked in as is also needing two rear tyres as well . Still waiting for a date, as he is very busy just now, but should be sorted very soon

Then like yourself now there will be no worry of exhaust falling off in the middle of nowhere, and nowhere remotely near, to pick a new one off the shelf.
