Inner Edge Tyre Wear

Post by Bosun » Fri Jul 06, 2007 7:03 am

I recently had 195 Goodyear G2 tyres fitted to the front and the tracking done at the same time by my local garage (about 6 months ago). Both tyres have started to scrub out on the inside so I guess the camber needs looking at.
Can anyone recommend one of the national tyre companies (Kwik-Fit etc) who would have the necessary equipment to do a computer alignment geometry test

Cheers

Steve

I think all the tyre sellers have the equipment, but wouldn't trust them. I just bought 2 tyres at STS Holburn and was told the tracking was way out. I told them I didn't believe them, as old tyres had worn evenly, and took it to a trusted mechanic. He checked and said it was well within the tolerances quoted by the manufacturer.
Moral is go to a proper place as opposed to the Kwik-Fit type places.

Hear hear!. KF type places are usually just out to sell you as much as poss whether it be services or tyres and exhausts etc.

Depends on the crew, my local ATS lads are generally good as gold, although they will occasionally balance a wheel without stripping all the old weights off first which annoys me.
