they should be wired up to the high beam via a relay. available from any motor factors. they should only come on for extra light when they wont bother anyone else

Yup, that's right. There are no wires for spots included as standard. The relay wiring is pretty straightforward though. If you need help someone will come up with a circuit or find one on 'tinternet.
Basically though, you need to identify the wire that goes to either existing spotlight, Scotch block a wire from it to your new switch on the dash, out of that switch to the relay coil, the other coil connection goes to chassis.
Take a fused feed of 12 volts from the battery (simplest) and feed one of the relay connectors, the other relay connector goes to both lights. I used a separate wire for each light.
Job done. Usual wiring precautions apply, ie be wary of sharp metal edges which could cause abrasion, choose a suitable fuse and wire gauge for the lights.
Hope this helps or if you knew this already, apologies, though someone else might use it someday.

Good wiring advice timhum, although carl's cibies are the same as my sister had fitted to her bongo, and the beam pattern on her's was like a dipped beam, (spread out, and quite low) And considering that they have yellow bulbs fitted to them, that suggests to me that they are intended for use as a dipped yellow beam in foggy conditions, maybe instead of the headlights to cut down on light "bounceback" when really foggy?
