The paint code on most bongo's gives the COMBINED colour code, insofar that most bongo's are two toned (usually over silent silver 4z as franco quite rightly points out)
This means that in dave's case the main body colour is midnight blue over silent silver. Its the actual code for the blue that seems to be elusive in his case.
For example:12F = 11L (crimson mica) over 4Z (silent silver)
14E= 5S ( neat green mica) over 4z (silent silver)
13T = 6R (bordeaux mica) over 5g (prestige silver) etc.
Therefore in most cases a single colour is usually denoted (in daves case, midnight blue) as a number followed by a letter.
However, i have it as code PD.
There is more to this Quandry, the colour (s) of dave's freda shouldn't be, as his is a 1996 model. (according to mazda his combination of colours ran from 1992-1995)
Although the colour of Dave's freda is quite rare, all the bongo's ive seen running in that colour are mazda variants, not once, (with the exception of Dave's) have i seen a freda in that particular colour.
This is making me wonder if,for a short production run,the ford versions have a particular code, which is not shared by their mazda counterparts?
If anybody has a freda in this colour, could they have a quick check to clarify? Or a mazda version for that matter... Dave has 12E as the colour combined. Many thanks.

hmmn sound dodgydaveblueozzie wrote:That helps a lot , mine is same colour as yours so not midnight blue as it states on the door pillar.prob why we were having trouble getting a match for the colour.

check the number under the bonnet near the main battery where the rubber seal goes around where the bonnet lid shuts it will say sgl5/3 ****** ect, just make sure the code matches the one on the vin plate on the door pillar

In addition dave, if it has been resrayed , then it has been done by mazda themselves. There is no way a bodyshop would go to the trouble of using a semi satin lacquer on the bumpers, as mazda do.
Your bumpers have the semi satin finish.

I hope you dont mind me including this pic of your freda dave?
Its just so we all know which colour we are talking about...

Have a look at this site
http://www.paintscratch.com/
If you try your year and Mazda, although it does'nt obviously list the Bongo (its a US site) there are other Mazda models with the same colours
