VERY IMPORTANT.....OIL FILTERS..!!!!!!

Post by alant54 » Tue Jun 12, 2007 10:53 am

Ian has asked me to post this message as a matter of urgency......if anyone has puchased a comline oil filter from the club shop DO NOT fit it....there is a problem with the seal failing......if you have one of these then if you return it to Ian he will replace it and reimburse the postage.....if you have fitted one recently then it is strongly advised that you replace it IMMEDIATELY ........!!!!

Oil filters

Post by Vanmanerik » Tue Jun 12, 2007 11:45 am

Having followed the 'oil filter change' problems in another thread recently I was worried that the Bongo had started another quirk as well as gaining a reputation as a 'hot' runner so I was pleased to see it is probably a faulty set of filters that has gone out. :(

I have just had a quick flick around the internet to see what filters are available described as suitable for a Bongo, and just a few are as follows:-

CMB11321, ADC42110, MD069782, MD069782, ADM 52108.

Now I am not sure which is the correct one for the Bongo and seeing the effects of fitting the wrong one I am loathe to purchase without further advice.

Can any one categorically state the Make and Model Number of the correct oil filter to fit a Bongo 2.5 litre turbo?

Many thanks.

Vanman...to quote Woz

I managed to replace it the same day with a Blueprint ADC42110 (labelled up as a Nippon) which again was slightly longer than the one that had sprung a leak?

We managed to clock up 2000miles after the smaller filter was changed and my paranoia of the filter leaking again is slowing dying off!

That is the filter that I have on my Bongo with no problems

hope this answers your question.. :D

We don't know if there is a good date or a bad date. This is still being investigated by Comline.

If you have fitted one, and been running around for more than a couple of hours without the O ring failing, you will be OK. But if you have bought one and never used it, to be on the safe side you should return it, and you will get a Blueprint one by return.

Surely shops and garages keep a record of what filters are sold to us, mine was just given to the garage to install, I would not know what filter was fitted or how to find out.

I would have expected to be told and had a new one sent down and the garage bill for fitting it paid.?

I had one of these and, sure enough, the seal let go - oil all over the road. Luckily I was less than a mile from home so was able to get back and replace the filter the following day.

Hi Guys

Sorry - Missed this thread..

You may of already read this post - sorry to repeat myself

I purchased a Comline filter from the website, a CMB11323 and it was a few mm shorter in length than the Comline model I removed (which was also the exact same make and model no.) but with an additional code of MD069782. I cannot find this code on the slightly shorter filter that had failed after about 45 miles.

I still have the faulty Comline filter - I could try posting some pics against the old, (non-faulty) longer one if it may help???

I managed to replace the faulty filter the same day with a new Blueprint ADC42110 (labelled up as a Nippon) which again was slightly longer than the one that had sprung a leak?

Thanks
