Starter clicking problem, a tip which

Post by Dennis » Wed Jun 06, 2007 1:59 pm

might be of use. Had the clicking problem for a while and it suddenly got worse a couple of days ago and refused to operate. Decided enough was enough and yesterday stripped it out, the contacts were as expected and worn out. A quick phone call and a return confirmation call within 5 minutes had the parts on order for collection within 24 hours, in fact i have them with me now. 1 contact set - £4 1 plunger - £8 chancellors cut - £2.10 total cost £14.10, if you are not inclined to strip and repair a replacement starter £90 (no exchange).

Dennis, cheers for the tip, last week the Bongo started with the dreaded click, no go, syndrome. On Friday, I rang Auto Electrical Supplies, spoke to Paul who stated they did not do mail order, could I collect, "not from near Lancaster" said I. He would ring me back. 1 hr later he rang to say the parts were out of stock, but he would forward them when he got them. Monday 0815 Paul rang to say he had my contact and plunger set, and was dispatching them. They arrived Tuesday, I fitted them this morning, Top company, top staff, cost £16.10p  Thanks again. Needed the Bongo this weekend, as we have 6 tickets for the Touring Cars at Oulton Park. Shakey
