Bongo Fury

Hi,

Not sure if this is anything to worry about, but, when elevating our Bongo roof, the beeping alarm noise doesn't stop – even when it appears fully elevated. It won't go up any further, put it that way. Obviously, the only way to turn the beeping off is by turning the key in the ignition, but then what if you want to listen to the radio? There's that beeping again!

Any ideas? Could something be jammed up there? Roof seems fully elevated.

The switches that detect when the roof is fully raised require it to be right at the very top of the movement before they trigger. Once you've got the roof up keep the "up" button pressed and give a firm push to the top centre of the roof. Beeping should stop!

You may need to check the lubrication of the roof mechanism if it is a frequent problem.

lubrication is probably needed, i had this problem with my roof but resolved it by going up a bit- down a bit- up a bit- and so on, until it made it all the way up, i think the reason for mine being sticky was not being raised for ages ie all through the winter

Ours did this yesterday. I put it back down and up again and it was OK.

I have noted the advice as, presumably, we could find the fault getting worse.

mine does this on occasion as well ...I just bring it back down a few inch then back up again and it goes the last mill or so to deactivate the alarm...

If you leave the fabric bit unzipped it takes a lot of strain of the mechanism. Just zip it up after you have opened the roof.

I have to keep the engine running on mine, in order for the beeper to go off?

That's because with the alternator charging, the battery has slightly higher voltage and hence more oomph for the motors to lift the roof that last inch or so.
