Stupid question about diesel ignition

Post by alphabetter » Sat May 19, 2007 2:54 pm

So,

Petrol engines stop when you turn the ingnition off because it stops the sparks.

Why does turning the ignition off stop diesel engines?

... because there's a fuel cut-off valve that's activated when you turn off the ignition. 8)

thanks. I assumed it was somehow related to stopping fuel getting in to the engine. Just never really thought about the problem until now.
