Read the error code from the ECU, the flashing light indicates that the ECU is reporting an error.

ADS, Ashton, use a contractor for recovery and have the knowledge to do the work, and further afield Allan's, Plymouth, or Ian Taylor, Stoke, are well worth talking to.
This won't be cheap, of course, so it might be worth asking Ian or Bongo Spares what they would offer for your Bongo, perhaps as deposit for a good one?
Good luck whatever you decide.

Fingers crossed, you might find an MoT fail which runs well.
I'm sure there's a donor out there.

Once the old head is removed it’s worth checking the block face is flat and decking it if in any doubt

They don’t exactly go from closed to open in a milli second...there is nothing wrong with a well maintained system.... I’m sure Mazda And every other maker have done research/homework.....no need to over complicate things......
Relax

at what place of block you want "skimmed"?

NOTE! after "cut face of block" for flate - you must in all cause check and cut "head of piston" - on bongo use only one thickness (apr 1.1-1.15mm) of heads gasket and valves dont "state at flate of heads face" - valves protrude of head apr 0.7-1.0mm .....our piston must to be above "flate of block" MAX at weru small size - on my - apr 0.2-0.3 NO MORE!!!!- or pistons in higest point may strike valves when thay close

I doubt it will need machine skimming....just check it and deck it.
