Hi
Outside lighting ...Brilliant lighting IS NOT a good idea, as it HELPS the tea-leaf...they find it amusing that folk are kind enough to make their job easy, according to interviews on TV...and these blighters are quick, and you need to stop them as long as possible...if it takes too long, they're off to an easy one...IF you must have lighting triggered by outdoor sensors, make sure that cats don't set it off, and use pulsed, varying frequency high intensity strobes, as they will find it very disorientating. and it's unlikely they will be able to function when trying to lift your car
Cheers

In the beginning there was nothing , then God said "Let there be Light".....There was still nothing , but ,by crikey, you could see it better.

Agree, any outside lighting is good but this suggestion is even better? Strobe lighting, I will look into that. It all depends on what kind of neighbours you have also. I had a chinese family 2 doors from me who informed me the next day that they had watched someone trying to break into my Landrover. I said did you call police? They shook their heads and closed the door! I have since moved to the seaside, no problems now. As for the Landy some bust locks and a window but a complete door from the scrappy it was fixed in a jif! If you have crap neighbours the noisiest alarm on the planet and lights like Wembley stadium will make no difference. At the end of the day we just have to make a deterent and I still agree that immobilisation is best. If it won't start they work hard for nowt! As for the trailer comment, if they are that determined they can have it!helen&tony wrote:Hi

Hi
Most certainly, anything is nickable, but there are lots of things to prevent theft.
Regarding strobes..you need something that's high-power, and NOT a fixed frequency pattern....it can cause severe difficulty or impairment of function...BUT...beware that it doesn't set off easily...maybe a door switch on the Bongo, or proximity switch to set off the house strobes by radio switch. Also...sonic alarms INSIDE the Bongo will make it EXTREMELY uncomfortable to get in...there are some very loud attack alarms activated by a pull-pin...tape one in the Bongo, and tie the pull-pin to the door....With dis-orienting strobes, and a similarly painful shrieker going off, no scroat will be ABLE to get in
Also, pepper sprays / CS sprays angled to spray out the door are REALLY great...very easy to purchase in the shops , and frightfully effective......
Cheers

If you put cs cannisters in your car you'll end up in court for causing injury! few years ago, Autowatch developed their range of systems that did similar, the most damaging being the flame throwers under the car to prevent car jacking, meant mainly for use in South Africa iirc. Cobra used to do a range of slimline sirens that you could tuck anywhere and at 120dB, i'd challenge anyone to sit in a car for more than a few seconds, however they've removed second siren output function on the new range of alarms!! useful not! Surprised noones mentioned the removable steering wheels, they're not generic and as such only your (and probably a small number) will fit, unless they wanna drive with mole grips lol
As Elize said recent popular method is to just break into your house and find your keys while your asleep, alternatively drag you out of your car at a junction, there is NO way to completely secure a vehicle. If your vehicle becomes the target of a proffesional thief, then no amount of security or precautions will prevent it from being stolen. At vehicle security seminars we come into contact with such people and their knowledge, equipment and skills are nothing short of astounding

Hi
Ah...I wondered about the CS cans...I thought you couldn't buy them...but they are available here and a fair few other EU countries...You can carry them for protection here...and tazers
...
I saw the South African flame-throwers, and I must say they're a very nice touch...and the 120Db sirens...easy enough to add one to a cheap secondary alarm, and as you say...impossible to sit inside...Steering wheel...I was thinking of those, and was nearly tempted to buy one, but walking along some boulevard with a steering wheel and a nice shoulder-strap to carry it is most likely to attract rude remarks!
A friend who is involved in High-end cars in the UK, told me some time ago that certain makes have a very sophisticated system, where only the owner can actually drive the car, and after servicing, the owner test-drives the car with the mechanic as passenger...followed by a chase car with a few heavies in , in case the car gets hi-jacked when in their custody following servicing.
When I was a child, if someone told you a tale of what the UK would be like in 2012, nobody would have believed it...sadly, it's a ridiculous place where criminals have excessive rights, and use them to the limit. If anyone can tell me how it's fair that total (.........) have more rights than their victims, please speak up
Cheers
